SUNBURY — Technology upgrades are coming to the Northumberland County Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts offices. The Northumberland County Improvement Fund Committee voted on Friday to award the offices $100,000 for upgrades to the current computer systems utilized.
Prothonotary Justin Dunkelberger, who is a member of the Improvement Fund Committee, says the money is not from taxpayer dollars, but is derived from user fees in the Register and Recorders Office. This is the second time in six years that these funds have been used for this purpose in the Prothonotary’s office.
The project will start with upgrading current case management software, allowing records research and filing procedures to be completed online. This will allow for e-filing by the legal community and public. People will be able to track progress on current cases as well as research old cases online. The upgrades are expected to be complete by late summer or early fall. (Ali Stevens)
