SUNBURY – Shikellamy School District started the new school year with new technology. The district has implemented a one-to-one computer program for high school students. 1,050 Chrome Books were purchased for students in grades 9-12 and for carts in each middle school department.
At the school board work session Thursday, Abbey Walshaw-Wertz, director of education said they are working on a program that would allow students to take their computers home this fall.
Currently, students return computers to their homeroom at the end of each day. Administrators plan to have individual parent meetings to outline the program which requires students to sign an agreement and pay a $25 fee for the school year. (Jennifer Wakeman)
