ALLENTOWN – Two Valley power generation plants are changing hands again. Talen Energy announced Friday it is being acquired by Riverstone Holdings LLC. Talen acquired power generation plants from PPL including the Susquehanna nuclear facility near Berwick and the coal-fired Montour plant in Washingtonville.
Last year, Talen announced it would cease maintenance and operation of the Montour Preserve. The Montour Area Recreation Commission (MARC) entered into a lease agreement with Talen to take over operation of the Preserve. Bob Stoudt, MARC executive director, tells WKOK he has not heard anything from either Talen or Riverstone, but at this time he, “has no reason to believe there will be any change in operation of the Preserve.” He adds MARC will take a wait and see approach as the two companies work out the details of the merger.
