LEWISBURG– Two local political groups are hosting discussions this week and next week.
The Susquehanna Valley Progressives will meet this Thursday at 6 p.m. at The Campus Theater in Lewisburg, and the Susquehanna Valley Conservatives will meet next Monday, October 9, at 7 p.m. at the Best Western Country Cupboard Inn.
The Progressives will view Al Gore’s latest film, An Inconvenient Sequel, and bring in a few experts to lead a discussion regarding real solutions to fight the impacts of climate change. The discussion panel will follow. The film is $7.00 and the discussion is free and open to the public. Donations will be collected at the film for the hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.
The Conservatives will be discussing the state of the economy, and the failure of healthcare in the US. Berwick borough councilman and congressional candidate Andrew Shecktor will be leading the discussion. Shecktor has studied the costs and benefits of the Affordable Care Act and will present information to support his belief that it should be repealed.
