Sunbury police officer Jamie Quinn fired after probe
Mayor Persing: Sunbury office Quinn fired
SUNBURY— The Sunbury Police Department has fired officer Jamie Quinn effective August 28. Mayor David Persing announced her termination at the City Council meeting Monday night, “Jamie has been on paid leave since sometime last November, and we’ve talked about an internal investigation. We have completed our internal investigation with the chief and based on various rules and regulations within our department that were not handled properly she was terminated as of today.”
Last week three of the five charges against Quinn were dropped including the felony charge of failing to report suspected child abuse. These charges stem from an incident where Officer Quinn allegedly did not report that a police department cellphone turned up in the hands of some students at Line Mountain School District.
There the students were transmitting sexually explicit pictures on it, and there is evidence, the teens were told by Quinn to delete the images and deny it–if questioned. Quinn has been suspended with pay from the Police Department since November says Mayor Persing. (Sarah Benek)
