Parking Fees and New Meters Voted On By Sunbury City Council
SUNBURY – The City of Sunbury is ready to increase in parking fees and install new parking meters.
The meter fee will double from twenty-five cents per hour to fifty cents per hour.
Sunbury Mayor Josh Brosious understands the reaction he’s heard to the doubling of parking rates and the $20 ticket for an expired meter, “I know it’s a little shocking, but we’re still cheaper.”
Looking at surrounding municipalities, according to Mayor Brosious, Sunbury is behind on the times when it comes to increasing the fee, as it has been over 30 years since it has increased.
He also talked about the new parking meters, “And going with the meters they are still going to be a coined based meter option on our main streets, but just in our parking lots you’re gonna have the option to do the text to pay.”
With the different options, individuals will still be able to go to city hall to purchase a permit for the parking spot. Council voted to increase the rates and buy the new meters at a recent meeting.
