SUNBURY – Sunbury Mayor Kurt Karlovich’s identification was nearly stolen. The Daily Item reports Treasurer Kevin Troup caught an unknown person attempting to steal the mayor’s identity through email. Karlovich told the paper the person sent an email to Troup pretending to be the mayor.
Troup says the email from an account with Karlovich’s name on it was asking for money to be transferred for administrative services. Karlovich praised Troup for his quick response. The paper says Sunbury Police is now handling an investigation.
