Sunbury man arrested in York for attempted robbery of two motor vehicles

arrestYORK — A Sunbury man is locked up in the York County Prison, charged with attempted robbery of two motor vehicles.  28-year-old Joseph Rubendall was taken into custody in the parking lot of a WalMart in West Manchester Township on Tuesday morning.  Police say Rubendall had attempted to carjack two people so he could get back to Sunbury.

He first approached a man in his SUV and asked for the keys.  Police say when the driver refused, he got in the passenger side and demanded that he was taking the vehicle, but the driver again refused.  Rubendall then went to a nearby truck and tried to start the vehicle.  The driver of that vehicle also refused and called police.  Rubendall was arrested and charged with two felony counts of attempted robbery and bail was set at $30,000.  (Ali Stevens)
