SUNBURY — The city announced that it hired a full time police officer on Monday night at the City Council meeting. Kiefer Bathgate is the newest addition to the Sunbury police force. Bathgate has been working part time for the department for several months. They also added Josh Shields to their pool of part time officers.
Mayor David Persing hopes to hire another officer this year saying, “My plan is still to hire at least another one before the year is up, but again I will be sitting down with councilwoman Kreamer and the Treasurer and see how much we have left.”
Mayor Persing says Jamie Quinn will be having a hearing this Wednesday on the child abuse charges brought against her.
