SELINSGROVE – After hearing reports of what’s described as ‘hate-mongering’ messages across campus, Susquehanna University’s president is speaking out. In a letter to the campus community, President Jonathan Green says those messages do not reflect the university’s mission.
President Green wrote, if the hate messages are coming from a current student, he’s asking that student (s) leave the university with a full refund of this semester’s expenses. If it’s coming from anyone outside of campus, Green is asking anyone who sees hate messages be taken down and brought to public safety.
Earlier this week, an SU campus group, ‘Susquehanna Rising’ announced on its Facebook page its planning a protest of conservative commentator Ben Shapiro. He’s scheduled to speak at SU March 20. The group says it was formed to hold the university and local officials “responsible for their actions.”
