Storytelling event at Susquehanna University on Tuesday

storiesSELINSGROVE – A regional community based storytelling event will take place at Susquehanna University on Tuesday evening in Isaacs Auditorium.  Julie Hagenbuch is director of the group Stories on Tap and explained the unique and engaging art form on WKOK Sunrise.

Hagenbuch said, “Stories on Tap is a traveling event series in the Susquehanna Valley.  Each event is focused on a theme.  Audience members sign up to tell a story on that theme, so tomorrow night’s theme is Skin I’m In, Stories About The Body.”

She says each story should be a true story and last five minutes.  Hagenbuch said, “The twist of Stories on Tap is that you are not allowed to have cue cards or notes on the stage, so everything is very animated.  It really draws people together.”

And both men and women will be taking part in the event, “We do often think about stories about the body and women having more issues than men, but maybe that’s a story we tell ourselves as a culture.  Men also are part of the story of feeling pressured to look a certain way, certainly in a different way than women, but they still do feel that pressure.”

Stories on Tap will begin at 8 p.m. in Isaacs Auditorium with 10 participants.  The audience then votes on the performances.  To learn more, listen to Julie Hagenbuch from WKOK Sunrise online at www.wkok.com.  (Ali Stevens)
