State Representative supports educational choice

fred kellerSUNBURY —  A local state representative says that competition between public, private and for-profit school is good for students. State Representative Fred Keller (R-85th, Kreamer) likened the competition to that of the auto-industry in the 1970s, “As much as the foreign auto industry hurt Detroit in the 70s, you know what happened? The competition raised the quality of the automobile.”

While Keller says we are fortunate to have quality public schools in The Valley, he believes that students should have other educational options if their school is not succeeding, “When you have a school that is not doing well, there should be options for the students.”  Representative Keller was a recent guest On The Mark and you can hear all of his comments on wkok.com.
