SUNBURY — There is an artistic showcase this month at State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver’s (R-108th, Sunbury) office on Arch Street in Sunbury. The artwork of local school student’s is on display, it is part of a ‘welcome to Spring’ initiative at the office for the past 5 years.
Schlegel-Culver explained, “When I first got elected, we wanted to have an open house. The office is very large and old with lots of wall space. I didn’t have anything on the walls because I just got elected so anything you find on our walls is organic to the district. Otherwise, we decided to have the art show, as a way of showcasing the local art from our children K-12 and our art centers, and a way to decorate the office.”
This year, a wide range of public and private schools in Schlegel Culver’s district have taken part, contributing more than 550 pieces of artwork. They range from self-portraits to 3-D dioramas. The show kicked off on Monday with a reception including refreshments made by student chefs of Sun Area Vo-Tech.
