State Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver Announces State Senate Run

SUNBURY – State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-108th, Sunbury) has made it official; she is running for State Senate to replace the resigning John Gordner.

Representative Culver made the announcement Wednesday, two days after telling WKOK she was ‘interested’ in running.

Sen. Gordner announced his resignation Monday, effective late Wednesday, creating a vacancy in the 27th State Senatorial District. The district includes all of Northumberland, Snyder, Montour, Columbia, and a portion of Luzerne County.

Rep. Culver said Wednesday she’s ‘humbled’ by the opportunity, and as committed her career to serving the Valley since being first elected to the state house in 2010, winning reelection six times since.

Culver, a lifelong Sunbury resident, says her focus is on growing the paychecks of Pennsylvanians and bringing down the cost of basic necessities, rather than increasing the size and reach of government or the influence of special interests.

She added, our area owes a debt of gratitude to Sen. Gordner for his 30 years of dedicated service.

Culver also worked with Gordner on countless projects in our area, including the CSVT.
