State police ramping up rape investigation

NORTHUMBERLAND/COLUMBIA CO – More canvassing, more interviews and more help from federal investigators–that’s the status of a rape investigation in our region. State police say they working with the feds on a rape that happened in April.

Troopers say they believe the rape may be related to a series of incidents spanning over several years within Northumberland and Columbia Counties. Police say the incidents involved the kidnapping, rape, or attempted kidnapping and rape of female victims.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, average build, between 35-45 years of age. Police believe he may have access to multiple vehicles. The offender also appears to have ties to the community.

State police will be canvassing the area and conducting additional interviews in Northumberland County as part of the ongoing investigation. You can call state police to confirm someone at your door is an investigator.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers Toll Free line at 1-800-4PA-TIPS. Callers are anonymous and could be eligible for a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest. (Matt Catrillo)
