Starting a diet for 2019? Maybe you should see your doc first

The doctor is in telling us how to be healthy in 2019

SUNBURY — For most of us, a new year comes with resolutions to better ourselves in many different ways. Possibly the most common is to be healthier.

Dr. Robin Spangler of UPMC Susquehanna Sunbury says if you have no chronic conditions, just go ahead and try that new diet, “For the average person, it’s ok to go ahead and start (a new diet), but if you have any serious health problems, heart problems, lung problems, it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor first.”

Dr. Spangler tells us how technology has helped, “Using phone apps to follow your exercise, to follow your calorie intake. There’s all kinds of things like that that people are using to make it a little bit easier.”

So what are the tips to a healthier lifestyle? “Make sure you get enough sleep at night, make sure you eat a well balanced diet, get your protein and vitamins and eat less unprocessed foods.”
