LEWISBURG – A community event Tuesday night in Lewisburg is designed to bring people together. Cindy Peltier of the CommUnity Zone was a guest on WKOK Sunrise. She says the Solidarity March began in 1998 following two hate crimes, “It started as a result of the killings of James Byrd and Matthew Shepard. We try to bring the Bucknell community and the Lewisburg community together.”
Peltier says the Solidarity March is designed to unite the community, “Well, this is an opportunity for all those that do feel marginalized, outside the norm, that they’re not alone, that people do care.”
The march begins at 5:45p.m at the Peace Pole in Hufnagle Park. Music and entertainment will follow the march to the Gazebo. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. (Jennifer Wakeman)
