WINFIELD – A farmhouse of a Snyder County family was heavily damaged by fire for the second time in less than two years. The fire occurred around 10:45 Friday morning in the Winfield area at 6449 Stein Lane.
The Daily Item reports Kratzerville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Chuck Steininger said the fire started and was contained in the closet of a second-floor bedroom. It was under control within 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The house was destroyed but rebuilt after the first fire that occurred in 2015. That blaze was caused by a malfunctioning wood stove while the family was not home. The home is owned by Daniel and Sonya Erdley, who have at least a dozen juvenile and adult children. Steininger says he doesn’t know how many people are currently living in the home.
