KULPMONT – Three homes were damaged by fire in Kulpmont Sunday morning.  The News Item reports the fire is believed to have started in the attic of 909 Scott Street, which is undergoing construction.  The homeowners made it out safely when the fire started.  That home was gutted by fire and 913 and 915 Scott Street were also damaged by the fire.

It took about an hour to bring the fire under control.  Firefighters found 909 Scott Street fully involved when they arrived on the scene.  A fire marshal will investigate the cause, but it is not suspicious.  The names of the families impacted by the fire are not yet known.  Kulpmont volunteer firefighters were assisted by crews from Atlas, Mount Carmel, Natalie, Coal Township, Shamokin and Upper Augusta Township.  (Ali Stevens)
