SUNBURY—The Shikellamy School Board has unveiled their 2018-2019 budget. WKOK spoke with David Sinopoli, Business Manager with the district and he says taxes, in the plan, would go up by three mills, but they are stilling hoping to lower that increase. The district used a fraction of the approximately $3 million fund balance to reduce the projected tax increase from 6-mills to 3-mills.
Sinopoli says the increase is needed to fund the almost $49 million budget that includes increases for healthcare, salary and pensions. He says the board will adopt the final budget at the June 14 meeting.
