SUNBURY – Signs of progress in the Shikellamy teacher contract negotiations. The teachers’ union announced Friday they are postponing their strike date from October 13 to October 27.
The Shikellamy Education Association cites progress in recent bargaining sessions with the board of education as the reason for the postponement. Teachers have been working without a contract since June of 2014.
There is a teachers strike underway in the Line Mountain School District. Shamokin teachers were ordered back to class last week. Danville has a strike scheduled for later this month. Warrior Run just settled their dispute and agreed to a contract this week. (Jennifer Wakeman)
