SUNBURY — Shikellamy School District has their tax-increase budget in place for next year. The Shikellamy school board adopted a more than $43-million budget at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The budget includes a 1.75 real estate mill tax increase, which could mean a real estate tax around $29.31 for the average property owner. Much of that increase will cover debts created by the construction of the new middle school, renovations at the high school stadium, and the district’s share of the SUN Area Technical Institute renovations.
The board also voted to appoint Todd VanKirk as elementary principal for Chief Shikellamy. VanKirk was formerly an elementary principal in the Midd-West School District. (Codi Jade)
