SUNBURY — Northumberland County Sheriff Robert Wolfe is warning residents about scam calls. His office has received reports of callers pretending to be deputies. The callers claim the victim missed jury duty and demand payment to avoid jail. Sheriff Wolfe says the calls are a scam and not coming from his office.
He urges anyone who receives such a call to hang up and report it to their local police department. Officials stress that jury duty notices and fines are never handled over the phone.
