Shamokin Man Charged with Strangulation

SHAMOKIN — NorthcentralPA.com is reporting… A Shamokin man is facing strangulation charges. 50-year-old Tracy Sperlbaum is accused of choking his girlfriend during a violent outburst on December 14 last year.

According to police, the victim told Sperlbaum he had been drinking too much, which led to a heated argument. Sperlbaum reportedly choked the victim until her voice became raspy, and she turned blue. A witness intervened to stop the assault.

Sperlbaum has been charged with felony strangulation, misdemeanor assault, and harassment. Bail was set at $5,000 by District Judge William J. Zalinski.
