Shamokin Couple Jailed after Football Game Assault

MOUNT CARMEL – The News Item is reporting… A Shamokin couple are jailed for assaulting a football coach at the Mt. Carmel Silverbowl Sunday. Rolando Robles and his wife Iris Robles face charges related to the incident including assault on a sports official, simple assault, institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
A dispute at the stadium during the Tornado’s A team game against Muncy turned violent when a team parent, objecting to a referee’s call, refused to calm down despite warnings from the referee and coaches.
Authorities say Mr. Robles jumped the rail, confronting and fighting the coach, and later led police on a brief foot pursuit after being escorted out of the stadium. EMS provided medical evaluations for several individuals at the scene.
