SHAMOKIN DAM – Shamokin Dam police made several arrests at a recent DUI checkpoint. Twelve arrests were made on August 26 including driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, possession of drugs, inspection violations, and expired driver license and registration violations.
The DUI alcohol related arrest was made several hours prior to officers setting up the checkpoint. The arrest was made as a result of a crash along Route 11/15, in which the intoxicated driver was at fault.
An estimated 500 drivers were checked. Shamokin Dam police were assisted by the Snyder and Union County Sheriff’s Departments, Snyder and Union County probation and the North Central Highway Safety Network. (Alex Reichenbach)
