SUNBURY – There are seven candidates to choose from in the general election for Northumberland County Commissioner and they will debate tonight in Sunbury. The debate, hosted by the Daily Item, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Sunbury.
The candidates are Kymberley Best and George Zalar, Democrats, Rick Shoch and Sam Schiccatano, Republicans, Ed Quiggle Jr. and John Burd, Libertarians, and Bill Shambach, an independent. The only incumbent up for re-election is Rick Shoch.
The three candidates who receive the most votes in the November election will be elected as commissioners. The debate is open to the public. (Ali Stevens)
