WILLIAMSPORT—What is being done to combat the state’s heroin and opioid crisis? You can find out what is being done at the federal, state and local level at an upcoming public hearing in Williamsport.
State Senator Gene Yaw (R-23, Williamsport) Chairman of the Center for Rural Pennsylvania Board of Directors will hold the hearing at UPMC Susquehanna Thursday, October 26 at 9 am. Sen. Yaw says, “We will be joined by state and federal officials and administrations in health care, criminal justice, treatment, and education and prevention services.”
Three years go the center held their first hearing on the opioid crisis in Williamsport; Sen. Yaw says the focus of this hearing is to understand where Pennsylvania is three years later, “Over the past three years the center has held twelve public hearings to raise awareness across the state. The primary focus is to understand where Pennsylvania is three years later in the state of addiction.”
Senator Yaw will be joined by fellow members of the Center Board to address the opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania.
