SELINSGROVE – The Selinsgrove Borough Council has applied for a grant worth $578,000 to brighten up the streets and walkways between Selinsgrove Commons and the business district and Susquehanna University. The Daily Item reports the grant would cover the cost of installing 29 ornamental street lamps along West Pine Street.
The proposed grant would fund the fourth phase of a decorative streetlight project that dates back to 2005, and would add to the already installed 69 street lamps along Market and East Pine Streets. All other phases of the project were funded with the aid of federal grants and contributions from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove Area Chamber of Commerce, Selinsgrove Projects Inc., and the Rudy Gelnett Trust.
Sunbury, Lewisburg, and Danville all have similar decorative streetlights.
