Selinsgrove school employee sues the district

Selinsgrove School DistrictSELINSGROVE – An employee is suing the Selinsgrove School District for discrimination. 54-year-old Katherine Carrasquillo of Winfield works as a custodian in the district. In court documents, Carrasquillo claims she was passed over for a raise in July 2014 and then involuntarily transferred from her position as a second-shift supervisor at the intermediate school to the high school.

Carrasquillo says supervisors and other staff members harassed her and made derogatory statements about her race.  She remains employed as a custodian in the district, now working at the intermediate school. Superintendent Chad Cohrs declined to comment on the lawsuit.  (Ali Stevens/Jennifer Wakeman)
