Selinsgrove music programs discussed at board meeting

selinsgrove sd THMSELINSGROVE- The future of the music programs in the Selinsgrove Area School District was addressed at last night’s school board meeting. All music courses have been offered to the students this year, including Women’s Ensemble, Piano, and Music Theater.

Superintendent Chad Cohrs stated that while most of the music courses will be offered next year, Women’s Ensemble would not be among them, “When all was said and done with course enrollments, we offered all the courses in high school except for one, which was Women’s Ensemble, which, this current year, only had 8 students enrolled. So, all of the other courses like Piano and Musical Theater courses are being offered for our students next year.”

Three teaching positions for the school’s music program will be filled as letters of intent to retire have been received. Superintendent Cohrs said that postings for the positions will be made later this month. Those positions include high school band director, high school choral director, and middle school choral director.  (Ashley Thomas)
