SELINSGROVE — It was supposed to be in good fun…but perhaps a line was crossed. Photos and video surfaced Sunday from Selinsgrove High School’s pep rally for Friday’s rivalry football game at Shikellamy. The photos and video showed Principal Brian Parise presenting a slide show making jokes about Shikellamy.
One include Parise comparing a Shikellamy fan and a carp, “One is a slimy bottom feeder, and one is a fish.” Then there was a comparison between the Shikellamy student section and a bench. “A bench can support a team,” Parise said.
Parise apologized Sunday for the comments after the photos caused over 200 shares and 250 comments on Facebook. Parise said he completely understands how the jokes could have been taken.
He also said he was in no way trying to insult anyone and he should be held to a higher standard. He also gave Shikellamy credit for its 28-26 win Friday. (Matt Catrillo)
