SUNBURY – Despite the building permit dispute, construction of the new Northumberland County Prison remains on schedule. Northumberland County Commissioner Sam Schiccatano provided an update during Wednesday’s monthly prison board meeting.
Schiccatano says the new prison cells will be installed when they arrive in the first or second week of November.
He says the roof will then be put in place shortly after, “Hopefully in the beginning of December we’ll be starting with the beams for the roof and the roof gets on by the end of the year. If that happens, we’ll be working inside for the rest of the winter.”
The project is expected to be complete by next June. (Matt Catrillo)
