WKOK Heat Wave News: Safety Tips for Pets in the Heat

WKOK is out with some tips for helping pets: Animal welfare officials across the state are encouraging pet owners to be safe in the heat.  As temperatures will remain in the 90s for the foreseeable future, they recommend limiting outdoor exposure for animals.  If you must take your dogs out, they recommend booties to keep their feet from being burned on hot sidewalks.  Never leave your pets in hot cars, even with the engine running, and limit their exercise.  They also say….Keep an eye out for heavy panting and an increased heart rate, signs your animal companions could be in distress.
