Running mate Bartos defends Scott Wagner on On The Mark

SUNBURY – Lieutenant Governor candidate and running mate with Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Scott Wagner, Jeff Bartos, joined WKOK’s On The Mark Wednesday. Bartos addressed a variety of topics in defending his running mate.

Bartos first addressed why Wagner chose a running mate this early in the campaign, “Anyone who follows Pennsylvania politics knows that Governor Wolf and Lieutenant Governor Stack don’t exactly have a great working relationship. Scott looked and that and said ‘What a missed opportunity.’ I want someone on day one that I can work with, that shares my values, and when the times get tough, know we have each other’s back and we’re working for the same goal which is to keep Pennsylvania moving forward.”

A big fear within the Pennsylvania GOP is a divided party due to hostile campaign ads between Wagner and fellow gubernatorial candidate Paul Mango. But Bartos says Wagner has been proactive in trying to unify the party, “He’s been to hundreds and hundreds of events all around the commonwealth unifying our party. And so, there’s another candidate running for governor who’s maybe spent a little of his own money on negative ads. They’ll absolutely be some bruised feelings, but we’ll do our best to get some independents to come vote for us to make up for that short-fall.”

Bartos says Wagner’s success in business and his quality leadership makes him someone people like working for, “I can speak to the man I’ve worked side-by-side with the last six months. He’s a generous, kind, thoughtful, very engaged person. He’s a great guy. But what’s more important is to talk to employees, employees who’ve been there for decades who just adore working for him.”
