UPDATE: Route 61 is now open.
UPDATE: Motorists in Northumberland County are advised Route 61 is closed between Route 487 and Irish Valley Road in Shamokin Township due to a tractor-trailer rollover. A detour is in place using Route 487, Route 54, Reading Turnpike and Mountain Road.
SHAMOKIN TWP – Route 61 is shutdown in both directions after a tractor-trailer overturned. Northumberland County Communications tells WKOK the accident occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Reading Turnpike in Shamokin Township.
County communications says Route 61 is shutdown in both directions in the area of Paxinos. It is expected to be shutdown for several hours for fuel spilled on the road. One minor injury has been reported.
