DANVILLE– Be prepared to take a detour if you’re traveling through Danville later this week. The Route 54 Continental Boulevard railroad crossing of the North Shore Railroad in Danville will be closed for repairs beginning Thursday and will reopen by next Tuesday.
Mill Street will be used as the primary detour route while repairs are being made. Repairs include raising and leveling the track, and milling and paving the highway approaches to the track.
Expect long delays in already congested downtown Danville during the rail crossing work, Route 54 near Route 11, Thursday through Tuesday. (Zach Kline)
