LEWISBURG — One of the Union County rock-throwers was back in court Thursday. 18-year-old Dylan Lahr and his attorney, Bruce Manchester, appeared before Judge Michael Sholley after Manchester filed a request to withdraw as counsel.

Without an attorney, Lahr filed an appeal of his 54-month to 24-year sentence for his part in the rock-throwing incident that severely injured Ohio school teacher Sharon Budd in 2014. In response, Manchester and his Bellefonte law firm filed a request to withdraw as counsel from Lahr’s case.

When questioned by the judge, Lahr said he wanted to have an attorney represent him, specifically Manchester, through his appeal.  Manchester told Sholley he felt he could not represent Lahr since he felt an appeal was not in Lahr’s best interest.

In his order, Sholley approved Manchester’s petition and immediately assigned the Union County public defender’s office to represent Lahr in any further legal action. (Jennifer Wakeman)
