Robbery suspect waives court hearing

court-hammer-gavel1SELINSGROVE – A Yeagertown man charged with trying to rob two businesses is facing a trial.  33-year-old Jonathan Hackenburg  waived his hearing before District Judge John Reed on Wednesday in Snyder County.  He is charged with felony robbery for the attempted robberies of the Dollar General Store in Shamokin Dam and the Short Stop Mart in Kreamer.

Both incidents took place on October 13.  Police say Hackenburg wore a mask when he confronted employees at the Dollar General Store with a gun.  Both employees fled the store before Hackenburg got any money.

He then was seen at the Short Stop Mart parking lot in Kreamer, where an employee contacted police and he was found hiding down an embankment near the store.  Hackenburg was arrested and a gun was found along with a note saying, “Give me all your money, I have a gun.”

Hackenburg is being held at the Snyder County Prison on $150,000 bail.  (Ali Stevens)
