Rifle Deer Season: PA’s Hunting Tradition Kicks Off Saturday

HARRISBURG – The start of Pennsylvania’s rifle deer season is this Saturday with an estimated 500,000 hunters expected to head into the woods.

The season runs until Saturday Dec. 14, with Sunday hunting permitted one Sunday (this Sunday).  Hunters are reminded to wear at least 250 square inches of fluorescent orange requirements and follow tag regulations.

The Game Commission says the state continues to rank among the top states for deer harvests, with last year’s firearms hunters taking about 255,000 deer, including 86,000 bucks.

The commission emphasizes preparation and patience, reminding everyone to prioritize safety and conservation. For detailed regulations and Chronic Wasting Disease guidelines, visit www.pgc.pa.gov.
