HAZLETON—Representative Lou Barletta, from the 11th Congressional District, will meet with President-elect Donald Trump on Monday. PoliticoPro is reporting that he’s a candidate for the post of Transportation secretary. Barletta is currently on the Trump transition team and sits on the House Homeland Security and Transportation committees.
Former PennDOT secretary, Barry Schoch, told PennLive.com that Barletta would be a perfect fit for the job and noted his experience on the House Transportation Committee, as mayor of Hazleton, and with the family business.
Barletta was instrumental last year in getting bipartisan consensus for a five-year transportation bill set to improve roads, bridges and rail systems. (Sara Lauver)
