COLUMBIA COUNTY – State democrats have chosen their nominee to run in the special election to replace John Gordner in the 27th state senatorial district.
Politics PA reports Patricia Lawton, a speech pathologist from Columbia County, was selected over the weekend. The special election is set for January 31.
The party chose between Lawton, Nate Eachus of Butler Township, Columbia County and Amber Heidig, chairwoman of the Montour County Democratic Party.
According to Politics PA, Lawton is currently an adjunct instructor at Penn State Harrisburg and is working on her dissertation for a Ph.D. in Administration and Leadership Studies through Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).
The 27th district includes all of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland and Snyder counties and parts of Luzerne County. She’ll face current state house member, Republican Lynda Schlegel Culver, and Libertarian Party candidate Thomas Anderson.
