WILLIAMSPORT – From PennLive…More than 70 Geisinger employees at numerous locations, including Danville, are seeking an injunction to prevent being fired Tuesday for not participating in the required COVID-19 testing for those not vaccinated. They cite religious beliefs for not being tested. The suit filed Monday in U.S. Middle District Court asks Judge Matthew Brann to issue an injunction by 5 p.m. Monday.
Geisinger does not comment on pending litigation but spokesman Matthew Van Stone said anyone approved for a vaccination exemption, whether for religious or medical reasons, must submit to twice-a-week testing.
The court complaint contends Geisinger has rejected most, if not all, of the plaintiffs’ religious exemptions. They claim they are willing to abide by reasonable accommodations to the vaccination policy but accuse Geisinger of failing to engage in any meaningful discussion. The suit also cites alleged issues with the required tests saying they contain harmful and toxic chemicals and sometimes provide false positive results.
