LEWISBURG — After the shooting of 9 people at a South Carolina church, dozens of local clergy and activitists say they feel compelled to act locally. They are planning a vigil Sunday evening, at 7:00pm in Hufnagle Park in Lewisburg… the public is invited.
Cindy Peltier tells WKOK the event, Susquehanna Valley Interfaith and Citizen Gathering, will include remarks from several speakers, prayer and meditation, and and some music. She said all of The Valley’s clergy are invited too, to stand up for the victims and their families in Charleston, and, “For a better world for all of us.”
She said, “There have been acts of racism in The Valley and the group wants to include everyone in a conversation about finding ways to bring about a new day filled with love and understanding for one another.” The vigil is Sunday evening at 7:00p.m., in Lewisburg’s Hufnagle Park.
