LEWISBURG – Companies served by the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority rail lines will continue to receive shipments even after the current short line operator’s contract expires. That contract is the subject of ongoing litigation.
According to a statement from JRA executive director, Jeff Stover, the authority has reached an agreement that will allow the current operator, North Shore Railroad of Northumberland to continue to service customers until the court case is resolved.
Carload Express of Pittsburgh and North Shore are vying for the new twelve-year contract to operate on the 200+ miles of track owned by the authority. The JRA began the process of issuing a new contract in 2014, but sought legal intervention after a vote to issue the contract failed to pass in July 2015.
