SELINSGROVE — Libraries are generally a place to be quiet — but for one weekend in March the Rudy Gelnett Library will become a golf course. Snyder County Libraries Executive Director Pam Ross says a 19 hole miniature golf course will be set up inside the library the weekend of March 6 and 7. Friday will be an “adult night.”
“There will be both beer and wine available,” Ross said. “With the admission you’ll get two free drinks, and the rest will need to be purchased. There will be food and prizes. If you are afraid you hit the ball in a bad place, you can buy a mulligan and redo your shot. We are doing a lot to try to make it fun for adults. You can even buy a caddy.”
Denise Haddon says Saturday will be open to all ages, “Kids love miniature golf! There’s going to be things to purchase like food and drinks. There will be all kinds of fun things. I just think the kids are going to have a blast, because it’s the whole idea of being able to play a game like this inside the library. Every time I tell kids about it, their eyes light up and they say, ‘we’re not allowed to do that kind of stuff in a library!’ Well, this day you are!”
The “Putting for Pages” fundraising event will support all four Snyder County Libraries. Adult golf is Friday March 6 from 6:30 to 9:30p.m. Family golf is Saturday March 7 from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. You can buy tickets at the Rudy Gelnett Library, or by calling (570)374-7163.
