Purse snatcher enters guilty pleas in two counties

court FEAT 1SUNBURY — A Paxinos woman has entered guilty pleas in two counties in two days. 30-year-old Chrystal Converse pled guilty Tuesday to felony robbery in Union County. She was charged with stealing a purse from 80-year-old Martha Oberlin in November 2015. Oberlin suffered a cardiac arrest and died three months after the incident at a store in Lewisburg. The plea agreement in this case reportedly includes a three to seven year state prison sentence.

On Wednesday, Converse pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of using a man’s credit card to make a purchase in November 2015. Northumberland County judge Paige Rosini sentenced Converse to 6 months to 12 months in state prison on the charge.

Converse is already serving three to nine years in state prison on multiple charges of robbery, drug possession, and criminal trespass in Potter County. Her Northumberland County sentence will run concurrently with the Potter County sentence.

She is still facing charges of forgery and theft related to the purse snatching in Union County. A hearing on that case is scheduled for October 31.
