SHAMOKIN DAM – Three road closures and two cul de sacs, as well as other design changes for the CSVT, will be the subject of a public meeting in two weeks. Monroe Township supervisors want public input on potential changes PennDOT has made to the design of the southern section of the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation project.
Art Thomas, consulting engineer for Monroe Township says changes include possible road closures, “Design revisions include the potential elimination of bridges over Attig Road and Grangers Road. There’s also a potential to close Jefferson Street down by Murray Chevrolet and also the potential to remove the jug handle around Zimmerman Dodge down at the green bridge.”
Thomas says PennDOT has made some additional changes to the plan that do not appear to be up for public discussion, “The design has always called for bridges over Park Road and Fisher Road, but the current design has eliminated the bridge over Fisher Road, putting cul de sacs on either side of the roadway embankment.
The meeting will be held June 13 at 6:30p.m. at the Monroe Township Municipal Building. (Jennifer Wakeman)
