BLOOMSBURG— Two Valley counties will be joining forces for emergency services. David Kovach, Columbia County Commissioner said, “Columbia and Montour counties are merging their dispatch centers, so everything for Columbia and Montour will be dispatched out of Columbia County.”
The new center will be the Eastern Regional 911 Center, and that is in the former Columbia County dispatch center. Commissioner Kovach, fellow commissioners, and state legislators unveiled their progress Thursday. He said that they got a financial boost from Harrisburg, “Columbia County got the grant from the state to make the imporvements to the infrastructure, all of the technology and things we need.”
The two counties say they will save money now and in the future. Kovach said this will help both counties provide even better emergency services than they have been. (Alyson Holdren)
