Police pursuit in Snyder County injures an officer

arrestSELINSGROVE – A Northumberland man is behind bars and an officer was injured during a police pursuit early Sunday morning. Selinsgrove police say 28-year-old Andrew Moyer was stopped by officers around 1:00 a.m. near the intersection of Route 522 and Broad Street. Police determined Moyer was intoxicated, but he fled the scene nearly striking an officer.

 

Police from Selinsgrove and Shamokin Dam pursued Moyer onto the Old Trail and used multiple intervention techniques in an attempt to stop the vehicle. At the intersection of Route 11/15 and Eighth Avenue, Moyer rammed a Selinsgrove police car. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

 

Moyer was arraigned before district magistrate John Reed, charged with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment. He was taken to the Snyder County prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. A Selinsgrove officer was injured in the pursuit. He was treated and released from Sunbury Community Hospital.
